Helped set up IT labs in rural Syangja schools with Danish volunteers — the first in his home village of Bangsing in October 2017 — and taught computer skills to students and teachers.
Working with ASK-Nepal and Danish volunteers from the NGO Trianglen, Rabin helped design and deliver computer labs for rural schools in Syangja. The first lab opened at Shree Shrawan Madhyamik Vidyalaya in his home village of Bangsing in October 2017, with iMacs donated by Ørestad Gymnasium in Denmark; labs in Phaparthum and Dhapuk followed by early 2019. Four labs were established in the district, each with 15 or more computers donated by Danish schools.
His role
- Setting up and maintaining the labs alongside the volunteers
- Teaching computer basics to students and local teachers
- Running computer training sessions after the labs opened
Why it mattered
For many students these were the first computers they had used. The programme gave village schools working labs with internet access, and gave Rabin his start in teaching technology to people who had never been taught it before.
